The Norwegian soprano Siri Karoline Thornhills versatility makes her equally at home in opera productions as she is giving concerts and recitals.

Siri was born in Bristol, the United Kingdom, of English and Norwegian parents. After the family returned to Norway, she began her musical studies in her hometown Stavanger. She continued her vocal training at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in Den Hag, the Netherlands, graduating with a master’s degree in Early Music. Her vocal and artistic talent was further developed with mentoring and training from renowned singers and teachers such as Anna Reynolds, Elly Ameling and Prof. Beata Heuer-Christen and Prof. Turid Karlsen. 

The list of distinguished conductors and orchestras with whom Siri has collaborated includes conductors such as Iván Fischer, Ton Koopman, Diego Fasolis, Bruno Weil, Philippe Herreweghe, Christoph Coin, Sigiswald Kuijken, Gijs Leenars, Ottavio Dantone, Riccardo Minasi and Fabio Biondi. Orchestras such as the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, I Barocchisti, Kammerorchester Basel, Orchestra La Scintilla Zürich, La Petite Bande, Freiburger Barockorchester, Balthasar Neumann Ensemble, Staatskapelle Halle, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, Concertgebouw Kamerorkest, Opéra National de Bordeaux and Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra are among her musical partners.

Her concerts and recital performances have taken her to major concert halls around the world in the Konzerthaus and Philharmonie Berlin, Philharmonie am Gasteig Munich, Frauenkirche Dresden, St. Michaeliskirche Hamburg, Alte Oper Frankfurt, NOSPR Katowice, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Kennedy Center Washington, Oslo and Stavanger Konserthus, Wiener Konzerthaus, Musikverein Graz, Palais des Beaux Arts Brussels, Auditorium Bordeaux, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Salle Garnier Monte Carlo and Sala Verdi in Milan.

Appearances at international festivals include the Händelfestspiele Göttingen and Halle, Rheingau Musik Festival, Haydnfestival Eisenstadt, Beethovenfest Bonn, Bachfest Leipzig, Mozartfest Augsburg, Ernen Barock, Festival international opéra baroque & romantique Beaune, Printemps des Arts de Monte Carlo, the Early Music Festivals in Bruges and Utrecht, Rencontres musicales de Vézelay and Sydney Festival.

Opera productions have taken her to Oper Leipzig, Freiburg and Halle, Komische Oper Berlin, as well as to Kristiansand and Beaune, in roles such as Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), 1st Lady and Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Gustav Holst’s “Savitri” (Savitri) and Luke Bedford’s short opera "Through his teeth" (Miss A). She has also appeared at the Theater für Niedersachsen in Telemann's "Orpheus, oder die wunderbare Beständigkeit der Liebe" (Königin Orasia), a baroque production staged by director Sigrid T'Hooft.
